Submerged arc furnace is mainly used for reducing smelting ore, carbonaceous reducing agent, solvent and other raw materials. It mainly produces ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, ferrochromium, ferrotungsten, ferrosilicon and manganese alloy, which are important industrial raw materials in metallurgical industry and chemical raw materials such as calcium carbide. The load of the transformer of the submerged arc furnace is continuous and stable, the impedance voltage is low, the number of voltage regulating stages is large, the stage difference is small and the overload capacity is strong.

In the submerged arc furnace, the resistance of the molten pool is less than the reactance of the molten pool. The submerged arc furnace smelts Ferroalloy by the resistance of the molten pool and the electric arc between the furnace materials. The reactance of the molten pool does not work, but reduces the power factor. The larger the furnace is, the lower the power factor is. In the DC submerged arc furnace, because there is no reactance in the molten pool, it has high power factor, high electric efficiency, high productivity, low energy consumption and stirring effect. In the multi electrode DC submerged arc furnace (such as three pairs of electrodes), each pair of electrodes has its own loop, without mutual influence. In addition, the direction of arc force of multi electrode DC submerged arc furnace is just opposite to that of AC furnace, pointing to the center of the furnace, which is very good for forming molten pool.
